Our New Home For Arts, Theatre & Community
As Rubber Chicken Theatre approaches 20 years of performing across Dunblane and beyond, it would be fair to say we’ve had several huge changes, exciting moments and big plans over those years as our performing arts family has grown. Two Guinness World Records, nearly 100 shows, coach loads of kids halfway down the country to perform with others from all around Europe. Today however, marks the biggest of them all.
I am absolutely delighted to announce that with the hugely generous support and enormous investment from a group of our parents, with legal support from Gilson Gray, we have today picked up the keys for The Cowane.
Many of you will know The Cowane Centre – with a permanent studio theatre, many multipurpose rooms, café and more, the building has held a place in the heart of Stirling for a huge number of years. Having been closed by Stirling Council and on the market for some time, we are delighted to be able to bring the building back in to community use.
We are looking forward not only to being able to give the RCT family a new and forever home, but to be able to have the opportunity to work with other arts, creative and community groups who may wish to use the space. The Cowane will be a place where we can build on our community ethos, and grow this new venture for RCT and beyond.
This is a massively exciting moment for us and we hope that you will all share our excitement as we move house, and bring the building back – it’s been sitting empty for a while, so we’ll need all the help we can get!
I appreciate lots of you will have lots of questions – how, where and when you can help, what happens with classes, shows etc, how the building will run and probably lots we haven’t thought about yet. We’re putting together some Q+A’s so we can share more detail on our plans over the next few days, so please feel free to comment with any questions you might have and we’ll include the answers.
